The Black Canyon Business Association is presenting the Black Canyon Festival in the Park Saturday and Sunday June 21-22, Columbine and Rotary Park in Montrose. There will be a juried art show of hand crafted items, live music, and gourmet food vendors. FORU will have an informational booth during the festival where children will have the opportunity to create drawings of the river. *
The Ridgway River Festival will be Saturday, June 28 th , at Rollans Park from 11-5:00.
Activities include a whitewater rodeo, down river race, and fun at the Kid's Eddy . A regional watershed information tent will provide education. Local musicians will play music. Local vendors will provide food and beverages. FORU will be represented at the information tent and may even be seen on the river! This event is sponsored by the Mosaic Community Project of Ridgway. The Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership will be hosting an educational forum about mining impacts and activity, past and present, in the upper watershed. A tentative date has been set for Wed. July 30 th . More information will be provided about topics and presenters as plans are finalized.

The next FORU meeting is Tuesday, July 1 st , Alpine Bank, East Main in Montrose.
The board will be revising the by laws and invite any interested members to participate in this process. |
